About this poster

"Since the city's name is derived from its origins as a fishing village and port on the Amstel River, and Europe is known for its artistic heritage (and I'm an invested art/history/museum nerd), I took inspiration from a piece in the Dutch National Maritime Museum, nicknamed "The Golden Carriage of the Water" which is a royal barge featuring sculptural depictions of the Roman god of water Poseidon at the bow drawn by three seahorses, flanked by cherubs, and decorated with numerous sea creatures and luxurious adornments. My poster is essentially a reinterpretation of that with my own psychedelic twist and an extra injection of the beauty, darkness, and dynamism Pearl Jam are known for. The prehistoric sea creatures surrounding everything are derived from the intro to their masterful video for 'Do The Evolution,' which I felt matched up nicely." - MT
