About this poster
During the last days that the Family Dog was teamed up with 2B1 at the Maritime Hall in San Francisco in 1997, the posters were allocated to monthly posters. When it came down to the last month of the partnership, the "Godfather of Soul" was billed to play. I felt the fact that he was just another name on the monthly poster was a travesty! Here was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, so I offered to produce a poster that was fitting for the "Hardest working man in show business"! I teamed up with the awesome rock artist Jim Phillips and went t'work designing this "Poster From The Past". It was a bold over-sized piece on a heavier stock than usual with a likeness of the man while in his prime! It was sort of a dream come true for me as I finally was in the position to take part in creating a Family Dog poster. Even if it was the last one!
