About this poster
"The imagery comes from a recent field trip in Brooklyn. I was drawn to an old industrial building across the street from the venue. The steel door of the façade is the focus where Invader put one of his original mosaics above the doorway. The Michelangelo David with the internal organs is another piece of graffiti that is actually there. All the other elements are imagined graffiti, and the Cadillac was parked under the Williamsburg Bridge on the same day. I drew the line art in pen and ink on vellum and burned the screens right from that. I wanted to riff on the Blues Traveler name with a heavy emphasis on Brooklyn. The hands are a recurring theme pertaining to shredding fingertips." "The imagery has more to do with Brooklyn and what the name "Blues Traveler" implies than anything else. It's perhaps darker than the band actually is but I couldn't help myself. The Masonic references are not meant to invoke Freemasonry but to stand as omens or talismans to the weary traveler. The fingertips being frayed to the bone is a reference to hard work, and any band that has survived on the road for 23 years knows something about work. The head under the Invader is based on the Ecstasy of Saint Theresa and the drips are meant to symbolize spray paint or wheat paste glue dripping down as opposed to blood." - DW
