About this poster
"Anna and I were looking through Godzilla background sets. We saw this image and thought he looked like a little kid in a sandbox having a tantrum. Many of those Japanese monster movies remind me of a rotten kid on some tantrum binge. I added an old expression a friend of mine used to use a lot... If anyone ever spoiled a good time for a group of people she would say, "Dude pooped on his birthday cake" I loved that expression so much. So we wanted to do something fun and humorous and lighthearted and easy and cheap. And we definitely wanted to appropriate and assimilate some imagery, which we've never really done before. So that's my best attempt at explaining this one." - DW
The expression "He pooped on his birthday cake" originated in rural Arkansas. It is meant to describe someone who out of spite for himself spoils a good time for everyone else.
