"The scroll will have the date of Hendrix' death. The concept is Hendrix traveling through the vortex between the earthly plane and the next dimension. The abandoned gas station is a symbol of his untimely transition. His guitar is unplugged and he is reflecting on the loss of his own brief but incredible life. Once I created that setting I became intrigued with Hendrix. I did some research on his death and started listening to some of the Rainbow Bridge tracks. I had no idea that he overdosed on his girlfriends Belgian prescriptions sleeping pills. I found that even more tragic than my misconception that he overdosed on intravenous heroin. It made it seem a lot more accidental. So I wanted to depict him as being somewhat stunned at his own demise. The scene is melancholy and hopeful at the same time... I hope." - DW
