About this poster
Picked as a physical representation of American wasteland, the cover for "The Joshua Tree" was shot in the desert towards the end of recording what would turn out to be the most popular and acclaimed U2 album to date. The designer of the cover art, Anton Corbijn came up with the title of the record and the band loved it. The concept of a lone tree, arms raised to the heavens intrigued Bono who insisted that was to be the name of the album. Although no Joshua Trees were in the final photo used for the cover, the sentiment was there.
