About this poster
“Bertha” is my homage to three artistic giants, Edmund J. Sullivan who penned the original drawing for the 1913 “Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam” and of course Stanley Mouse & Alton Kelley, the dynamic duo who made the Skull & Roses image the worldwide icon it is today. Working on this piece has reminded me that regardless of our chosen path in life, we all stand on the shoulders of giants. It's with the utmost respect that I dedicate this edition to all the artists that laid the path that I currently have the privilege to be walking, your contributions mean the world to me and countless others.
Calling this one the “Lavender Lady” variant of my Bertha. Instead of doing a line art variant I wanted to push things a bit further utilizing desaturated colors pushed both to the warm and cool side of the spectrum." - AJ
